Remote Installation Services

Remote installation services is used to install operating system on new machines from remote locations without using CD, DVD or Pen Drives.

To run RIS you need to have the following Services running on Server and clients.

Things Needed on Server:

  1. Windows 2003 Server
  2. Static IP Address to the Server.
  3. Install DHCP Services
  4. Make your server a DOMAIN CONTROLLER using dcpromo command
  5. Install RIS (Remote Installation Services)
  6. After installing RIS Service run risetup command

Things Needed on Client:

  1. Client machine should be able to boot from network.
